Soaps
Soaps are so easy to make at home & you can get a huge range of moulds to make them in. You will find kits which contain everything you need at your local craft stores & these could be a good idea for a test run before you make the real things.
Think about making scented soaps or incorporating some unusual ingredients. Do some searching online for good soap recipes & instructions.
You could make little individual soaps in different shapes which you could present in a organza bag or bars of soap finished with a paper band & some natural colored raffia or ribbon. Another suggestion is to make his & hers soaps with different scents & in different shapes.
Cookies
If you are good at baking then cookies could be the perfect favors for you! The range of cutter shapes & icing colors means you can coordinate them to just about any style or theme of wedding.
Make large shaped cookies which you could present in a clear cellophane bag or ice them with your guests names to use as name cards. Alternatively you could make up batches of mini cookies in different flavors – vanilla, choc chip, double chocolate, white chocolate etc & give your guests little bags containing a few of each.
Baked Goodies
Following on from cookies, you could make up batches of other baked treats such as brownies, oat cakes, gingerbread, macaroons etc. Again you could present them in cellophane bags or in a large box, lined with colored paper.
Make sure you don’t bake them too early though as they could be stale before the wedding day arrives!
Cupcakes & Mini Cakes
These have been popular alternatives to a traditional wedding cake, although some couples do have both. Both of these can be any kind of flavor & decorated to suit your wedding. They look adorable presented in clear plastic boxes or luxury laser pierced wrappers.
Plants
If you are green fingered then have a go at growing up individual pot plants as wedding favors. This may be the most intensive of all the crafts, & will take the longest, but the end results should be worth it. Choose plants which are easy to grow & which won’t need much maintenance to keep them going, so that they don’t take up too much time.
You could also look at bulbs & pot them on them so they have sprouted by the time your wedding comes around. Herbs are another good choice & will add a fragrant touch to your tables.
Confectionary
Making your own chocolates & candies is not as hard as you may think. As with the soaps there are many moulds to choose from to make it easy to produce your own sweet treats (in fact these moulds are dual purpose, used for everything from chocolates to candles!). You will find chocolate flakes in bags which just need melting & you can choose from a range of luxury flavours.
Present candies in jars, bottles or cellophane bags & chocolates in nice boxes.
Candles
Similar to soap making, candles are easy to make & can be colored & scented as you like. You can make them in moulds or in glass containers or jars.
